spoletoIt may be snowing outside, but it is time to start thinking about summer opportunities, particularly because some programs fill early or close mid-winter for registration. Summer is a great time to explore programs on college campuses, get some work experience, intern at a local business, volunteer, or travel to new places. A few sample offerings are highlighted below. Note that many offer scholarships. You may also want to review our December 2004 and January 2006 newsletters and for more information on programs.

Summer jobs and internships

Local jobs are often listed on Craigslist, but explore some of these sites for a variety of opportunities. Internship opportunities, which are more informal, are often discovered by using your contacts and talking to friends and family.

Students with learning disabilities

  • Explore this report, updated annually by George Washington University, on pre-college programs for students with learning disabilities. While it includes programs from 2006, many to be offered this summer will be similar, and the links are constantly being updated.

Students and parents
