Trinity UniversityThe Seattle representative for Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, hosted a counselor lunch in Seattle and provided an excellent update on this small liberal arts college with 2,245 undergraduates. Students who want a more urban experience and the benefit of smaller classes might want to explore the many merit scholarships and opportunities at Trinity University. This is one of the few small liberal arts colleges offering engineering, business, and communications majors. The recently completed science and engineering building (Center for the Sciences and Innovation) provides an excellent environment to collaborate and also consider the entrepreneurship track, complete with funding. An interesting component of the entrepreneurship program is the encouragement of humanities majors to participate, highlighting the cross-collaboration that stimulates creativity in developing businesses. The engineering program offers large school resources, complete with a one-of-a-kind eight-semester design sequence.

San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the US and provides a culturally diverse setting, with great food options and nonstop flights to Seattle. The Languages Across the Curriculum Program is unique and pairs Chinese and Spanish students with economics, business, and other courses taught in foreign languages. Other interesting programs include Neuroscience and Mathematical Finance. The president is ubiquitous on campus and offers office hours and hosts events for students, often at his home.
