Lynn University Counselor Update

Lynn UniversityLynn University hosted a counselor breakfast and provided an excellent update on this popular Boca Raton, Florida, university of 1800 undergraduates. Lynn has plans to grow and continue to focus on providing an individualized learning experience. The vibrant food scene in the local area is a big draw for students, especially those enrolled in the Hospitality Management program. Lynn has some unique offerings including a music conservatory and a strong commercial pilot-training program with very updated equipment. BS degrees in Aviation Management and Fashion and Retail are also popular programs.

Learning at Lynn is project-based, and internships are an essential part of this hands-on environment. Students with learning differences benefit greatly from the support given, as Lynn specializes in strength-driven education and is very welcoming of LD students. The Institute for Achievement and Learning is one of the best in the US, with a large professional staff and over 25% of students participating. The faculty members at Lynn have all been trained in teaching techniques for students with learning differences, a strength that is unique and highly beneficially for many students. A large safety net provides support for students as they progress.

Lynn students may attend the 3.0 Program and take courses in the summer to complete their degrees in three years. Four-year masters programs are offered in all programs, with the exception of music. There is no foreign language requirement at Lynn, but students must take a global awareness course their junior year. Study abroad is very popular, and, as its philosophy dictates, internships are an important part of this program.

Portfolios are required of all students and must be posted online before graduation. A personal finance is also required. Business majors must intern and will get credit for their summer internships as well as those done locally during the academic year.

The business program includes an option to focus on family businesses and entrepreneurship. Sports management and event management programs are also popular. Lynn offers Division II varsity sports as well as club sports.
