on August 12, 2015 in Application Process

Common Application LogoThe Common Application for 2015-2016 is now live. This is a great time to get a start getting familiar with the many aspects of the application. The Common Application is a working document, so add some colleges that you are considering and see if there are supplemental essays to write. Try writing some activities in the limited space provided, and preview and edit them. Activities don’t need full sentences, just add key words and some personality! Explore ways to add information to your application using, a platform used by many colleges for adding videos, images or other supplemental information to demonstrate a talent. A talent doesn’t need to be in the arts, it can also include samples of code, robotics projects, or research. Slideroom can be activated by answering the “Questions” for colleges that use the platform on the Common Application. You can add your high school information and complete the FERPA information so that you can start sending recommendations. Also note that many colleges allow students to send recommendations from those who can provide additional information to support your application: someone you have interned with or worked for, a coach, a fine or performing arts instructor, and more. You can download this pdf grid to see the deadlines and requirements for all of the colleges on the Common Application. Make sure your personality comes shining through your application, don’t focus on what you think colleges want to read, be yourself.
