The Pacific Northwest Association for College Admission Counseling (PNACAC) will hold a college fair on the Seattle University campus. This college fair is smaller than the NACAC fair held at the Washington Convention Center and provides a great opportunity to speak with representatives from these colleges: 2012 Seattle PNACAC College Fair - as of Feb 23

Scholarship Video Contest at TheWashboard.org

TheWashBoard.org is a free, web-based scholarship clearinghouse that matches Washington scholarship seekers with Washington scholarship providers. Over 80,000 scholarship seekers and 210 providers are registered. This is an excellent source of scholarship funds as more than $28 million is available in awards for next year.

TheWashBoard.org Scholarship Video Contest is an exciting opportunity for students with video skills. This contest is joint effort by theWashBoard.org, Scholarship Junkies, College Spark Washington, and the Northwest Education Loan Association (NELA) to encourage students to engage more actively in their own scholarship search.

Students are invited to create a 60 second video that answers the question Why are scholarships important to you? Washington high school seniors, or current college students, who will enroll in college at least half-time beginning fall 2012, are eligible. Entries may be submitted starting December 15th; the deadline is January 31, 2012. FAQs, the submission form, and scholarship rules can be found at www.thewashboardcontest.org.

The 21st Annual Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Conference at UW

This just in from the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) conference at the University of Washington.

"Our 21th annual conference will include a pathway throughout the day of sessions devoted solely to high school women! We will have speakers and workshops that include hands on engineering projects, introductions to college level research, career pathways, transitioning into university life, and what challenges and advantages women in the science and engineering fields have. The workshops run simultaneously so the individual student can tailor the conference for their needs. We encourage students of science and engineering at all levels to attend. The registration fee is minimal, and there are great opportunities to network, explore opportunities at the University and in industry, and learn more about topics that appeal to women studying and pursuing careers in the field"

The NACAC College Fair is coming to Seattle on November 4th (9am-12pm) and November 5th (Noon-4pm). The College Fair allow students and parents to meet one-on-one with admission representatives from a wide range of national and international, public and private, two-year and four-year colleges and universities.

In an effort to increase the amount of face-to-face interaction a student has with an admissions representative, NACAC has introduced lead retrieval at 19 of the Fall 2011 National College Fairs sites, including Seattle. Students can individually register here . Lead retrieval allows students to register online before a fair, by entering their information and receiving a personalized barcode. Students take the barcode with them to the Fair and schools can easily scan this barcode with their rented scanners and retrieve student information, including name, age, academic interests and test scores. This is a much more efficient way for colleges and universities to document the students that come up to their booth during the Fairs.

Seattle Visual and Performing Arts College Fair October 24th

The Seattle Visual and Performing Arts College Fair is coming to the Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center on October 24th, from 6pm to 8pm. This is a great opportunity for students to meet with representatives of colleges and universities offering strong visual and performing arts programs.

UW Freshman Application Now Open

The University of Washington autumn and summer 2012 application is now open. The application must be submitted by December 1, 2011. You’ll find a link to the online application here.

Application Reminders:
·         Test scores must be received by December 31, 2011.
·         Transcripts – do not send.
·         Letters of recommendation – do not send.
·         All admissions decisions will be mailed to freshman applicants between March 15 and 31, 2012.
